I need ot order a new brak cable for the handbrake on my 1979 Midget withOUT wire wheels. I go to moss to order the parts and I have no idea! They have wired wheels vs disc. That part I can figure out! However they have this listed and I have no idea how to know this or even where to look on my car to figure it out:

20 331-660 $15.95 HANDBRAKE CABLE 948 thru 1500 (c)182000 1

331-670 $18.95 HANDBRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY disc wheels 1500 from (c)182001

I havent looked but I thought my midget was brake shoes, bnot discs. Please help this newbie figure this out as I need to give it to the car restorer. Thanks and sorry for my ignorance!!

disc wheels means steel wheels. part 331-670 should be the one you need for a steel wheel car

Yes, for sure the 331-670 is the correct handbrake cable. I had to replace mine also on my '77. When in doubt, call the moss technical service line. I spoke with Blaine Graham and he was not only helpful, but very knowledgable. He even pulled the part for me, took digital photos and emailed them to me to make sure I was ordering the right part. Now that's service.

Hello BJ,

I would check your chassis number, (V.I.N.) and see whether your car is an early or late model, if it is before 182000 then the first is correct.
