Paul,
Lots to reply to here. First, try Gabe and Peter here for your repair/rebuild work: https://www.highlandautomotiverestoration.com/ I've known them for more than 35 years through the Healey club. Honest guys that do great work.
The condo thing hits home right now. We live on an acre in a nice subdivision and I have an oversize two-car garage that holds the Healeys that I can push to the sidewalls and fit my wife's Outback in during the winter. We've got plenty of friends moving into condos and my wife has been making not so subtle hints what a great idea it would be. Frankly, I dread the idea. Can't figure out how I can put four cars away not to mention I'd probably get kicked out of the condo the first time I fired up the V8 Healey, Not to mention the air tools, grinders, etc. I grew up in the country and never have been thrilled having people living too close, next to, above and beneath me, despite living for eight years in apartments in Boston. I see a long road of my wife and I failing to disagree over this but maybe there's a solution.
About the condo/hoa, seems to me the Condo board by changing the parking rulesex post facto has diminished the value of your son's property. What if they decided to change the condos to an over-55 community after he had invested there? Maybe the condo docs protect them from this, but maybe a letter from Dad, Esq might get them to change their minds?
