Any other "Left Coast" vintage racers participating in GRL's Wine Country Classic?
Morgan is the feature marque celebrating 100 years. There should be a good field of LBC and Infineon, (Sears Point) is a great venue.

Success in the Wine Country- After delays and many long hours of preparation I loaded the big Healey up for the 10 hour drive to Sonoma, CA. The dyno the day before reveal a few thing. I now have 50 more hp and torque then last year and I'm only running on 80% full throttle. No time to break things down to reach the cable to repair so 80% was going to have to do.

Infineon or for the old timers "Sears Point", is a demanding drivers track that will bite hard if you let it. Great elevation changes, off camber blind turns, and a long set of thrilling esses. My goal for the first time in Sonoma, stay on the track, finish somewhere in the middle, keep between race "wrenching" to a minimum.

The race weekend worked out much better than I expected. Qualified 24th out of 41 on Saturday and placed 17th out of 41 in Sundays Group 3 feature. The new motor ran strong, adjustments were only tire pressure and fuel. Friends and family had a great time at the nearby wineries. The weather and GRL, the event organizer, were terrific. I enjoyed meeting some of the BRFer's who stopped by to wish me luck. I'll differently be back.

Nice elevation change there. That red Elva looks similar to Michael Oritt's car. That P1800 leans!.

Great sounds from the Big Six.

That Elva is driven by Sue Quackenbush a pretty accomplished west coat vintage racer. We had some great dices in the last 3 laps but my Flip camera battery died...........my bad. Here's the remains of the "Purple Lips" Healey from the SCCA NORPAC finals last year at Infineon. The drive missed his breaking point going into turn 11...............no run off, just the tire wall.

I loved to drive Sears Point.Turn 10 only causes
problems if you have hp!We were trying to figure out
how to get more speed going thru it (in a SSC Ford Fiesta).
Usually only the more powerful cars,or drivers trying
to go faster, have problems with that turn.

Great Video Dougie! I'm glad you included the bit where you were forced 2 off.

Thanks, the Volvo's brakes gave out about lap 7 of the 10 lap race. I passed him and that was the last I saw of him.
