My son is excited - he just left for the Middle East today to fly refueling missions over Iraq and Afghanistan for 3 months or so. He upgraded to Aircraft Commander a few months back, but this is his first trip as the AC (left seat) on the KC-135 without having an IP onboard. It is 100% his airplane this time. Keeping my fingers crossed that his missions go well. Seems like only yesterday he was just learning to fly gliders in Civil Air Patrol.

Hey, before you know it you'll be a grandpa!

I wish you and your family peace of mind and him a quick and save deployment. I know the stress my family has when I am deployed.

Good luck to him and his crew, and hopes for a safe deployment.

Best of luck to him and the crew. He'll be fine. And its a mission that needs doing. Nothing like seeing a bunch of air power waiting to fill up and get down to business. I think the boom operator has the best view of that. Never the less, its a team effort. He'll be home before you know it.
