Wedge Somewhat sketchy TR8[?] for cheap in SoCal

Seems like a great deal, if it is for real. Does not look too bad

I don't think that it's a '77. It has the later "triumph" medallion on the nose and not sure if fi was available in '77. but still looks good.

Can't be a 77 - DHCs weren't available until late 79, and the only TR8s in 1977 were preproduction coupes. Doesn't look bad, but you gotta wonder about a listing with that many errors.

Looks to be a 1980 California FI conv. The engine bay shows platinum paint. That is a 1980 color only. In 81, they went to ardent silver. The nose badge is from an 81, but it is commonly seen on earlier cars because some people just put them there. The trunk lid has the lock for a 1980. The steering wheel is from a early 77 and back coupe. I'll bet you anything it is a 1980 rebadged as a 1977 possibly to get around some of Cali's crazy smog laws. No matter how you slice it, this car seems worth the 3K no matter what it is. I don't really care if it started out as a 7 or an 8. I only care about driving them. My TR8 race car is on it's third body shell. The current shell was an early 75 TR7. It's so modified, stripped down and scary, that how it rolled off the assembly line is only a formality. Two of the nicest TR8s I have ever seen are technically TR7 V8's. Does it really matter if you are a 7 or an 8, when you can spank a Vette or 911?

Looks like a 7 with a transplanted V8 to me. Has the early steering wheel that wouldn't have been used on the '81's, which had that apron medallion.

Interesting that it has the apron medallion on it, and the TR8 decal on the back... and it's in primer!

Wish I could see the gauge package he has where the center air vents go. Interesting thought...

Soooo...which of you is biting? The price is nice. C'mon,Tom! Are you gonna go take a look? Santa Barbara isn't too far from you. It's a little tempting, no?
I'm heading to Portland at the end of the month, so Philman if you are ready to adopt this mixed-up Triumph I will drive it to Eugene for you! --Monica
Me? I am not allowed to pick up hitch-hikers or Stray LBC's

Do not tempt me - I already have a "spare" TR6. Stop it, stop it, stop it.

FYI - folks, I found a home for the TR7 shell.
