Thursday night Brian came down to fiddle/wrench/hang out with Chuck. They took his Midget for a ride and stopped at a gas station. Out of nowhere, this guy in cammies, dressed like something out of Deliverance, driving a camoflaged Humvee came up to them. Said, 'A Midget huh. Want another one of those?' Brian said, 'Does it run?' Guy said, 'It will when you're done with it.'

1970 chrome bumper. Guy said $900 (obo I'm sure) - don't know any details, but I think the guys are calling on it tomorrow and going to take a looksee.

I think I'd do a buy'see, at about a 1-300 price differnce...depending on it's structural condition.

Yea, they didn't get any info on the car. It could have been sitting in a cornfield the last 25 years. It's only 5 minutes or so from us, so maybe we'll go look.

I think if Brian does a buy'see, it might need to be something he can LIVE in too, because his bride is just adjusting to life with a LBCnut as it is...2 may be one too many for her right now.

But, JB, it has a 1275 in it. A real honest to gosh MG motor!
The '70's were nice cars, and it will run circles around his 1500. The difference is about what you noticed after the SU swap on Emma.
I hope he hits the jackpot. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

There's a good chance that 1275 hasn't been started in that many weeks! And there's a good chance it's become host hotel to tinworms and rustmaggots. There may be no salvagable body left on that car. We'll see. I'll go along and take some digital pictures. It may be too far gone.

One never knows. I had a '74 Midget given to me that hadn't been started in 10 years, with no rust in it at all. I don't care if the engine is frozen or not. I've got a couple good running spares sitting on stands. The interior has seen better days, and it needs a top, but the price was right.
Jeff

BTW, the title of this thread sounds like a Steven King novel.

I love it, ya just gota beleive that there is a LBC out there just looking for you to give it a good home.

Kinda like puppies and kittens.

You know, Jack, when people ask me where I get all these things, my standard answer is "They follow me home like stray cats." Not that far from the truth, I guess.
Jeff

LBC of dreams. "If you build it, they will come"

They all seem to find me - or follow me home!

We have a Schwans truck come by every two weeks. He just stopped here and asked me if I wanted another one of those MG cars. He saw one for sale. $2500 and it has a V6 in it. He is going to get the info and get back to me.

One Sunday afternon, Jerri & I pulled up to our driveway - it had been pouring the rain all day - after church & lunch to find that somebody had pushed a little wrecked '66 Midget off...there it sat, all dingy red with every panel dented, no top to protect what was left of the interior

...but, I still made several hundred off it - & never found out who dropped it off!

they weren't kind enough to leave the plates on the car for you?

Nope - no form of identification - just the little car...but the tires held air so I could easily move it!

Somehow I don't think the tires holding air would have been an issue Tony.

hehehehe

Dear Tony,
We dropped a small Red MG off at your home to have it restored. I am writing to ask of its status. It has been some time since we had it dropped off and was curios as to how you were doing with our baby.
Sincerely,
Mr & Mrs Morris G.
