Worth taking reasonable precautions (though this is surely true with any private transaction).
 
I have responded to a couple of Craig's List items over the years.
Standard procedure, .45ACP on the hip, shell in the chamber, hammer back, safety on.
Seriously.
Had some folks killed locally with CL stuff.

Always helps to bring along someone with at least a 9mm for backup. Did that once...he stood back aways from the transaction. Just to be safe.
 
I think it was the couple that placed the ad. WTB - 1966 Mustang.

Be careful what you put on the web guys. You never know who'll take you up on the offer.

I couldn't agree more, better to have it and not need it than vice versa.

Yes it was. The guy responded that he had the car they wanted.
 
Nothing special about Craigslist; reasonable precautions are required any time you meet someone over the Internet.
 
I almost had a deal go bad in a Ft Worth garage at 1:30 am with some meth heads and me w/ 12K cash and no gun. I didn't have my CC permit yet but I don't leave home without it when a deal goes down. When you think about it, that's almost the perfect crime. Stupid kid didn't realize phones like that can easily be traced at point-of-sale.

Any moron should know crime just doesn't pay now with all the tech in-play....and that's just the stuff we know about....
 
I have bought a few things off Craig's list and generally arrange to meet in a public place. For example, when I bought a used Canon 7D I arranged to meet the guy at a Starbucks.
 
Our 63 Mini, 68 MGB, and Glasspar boat were all Craigslist purchases. Just don't know any more.......
 
A few years ago a regular vendor at a local flea market was targeted... He was lured by a young couple who were "selling" something to him for his weekly flea market table... He didn't come back...

Just have to be careful, having a gun anywhere except your house is illegal in Canada (unless being transported to a gun range or to your hunting trip), but there are some precautions to be made even without that... I've heard it before that the buddy system is a good idea and should take care of most threats... Or just meet somewhere very public...

Yeah. It's also illegal in Canada to kill and rob folks. Remember, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

A guy I used to work with would check his door locks when driving through "questionable" areas and his line was "I'm not paranoid, etc. I just don't want to be a statistic."
