I'm about ready to put the rebuilt engine back into the Cortina (1967 MKII,1500GT).
I got a new clutch disc.On the box it says "Delphi Corp." & "Borg & Beck".
Aren't they in bankrupcty? Did they buy Borg & Beck?

- Doug

Delphi is closing their plants in north Alabama - didn't know about bankruptcy though

Yes, they are in bankruptcy protection. They are in the process of repositioning their debt and renegotiating contracts.

Delphi owns Borg and Beck, as well as Lockheed brakes and Diavia Air Conditioning brand.

Newspaper this morning had an article about their new plan to reduce hourly wages from $27 to $16 over time! $27 per hour for a factory worker in north Alabama is way out of line with local economy! No wonder they're having problems!

"Look for the Union Label... lalalaaaa!"

...buncha idjits.

oops... "No politics." NoPolitics, nononooopolitics.

Dunno 'bout you guys, but I'd be pretty stoked goin' to work knowing I'd be making less in the future. You could live like a king for what those guys are making down there! Oh well, try not to think about it, try not to think...

"Delphi Corp. has delivered its latest proposal for cuts in wages and benefits to the United Auto workers, which represents the majority of the auto-parts suppliers' 34,000 hourly workers, the union said.

"Under the latest offer, Delphi's hourly workers, who currently are paid $27 per hour, would see their wages initially cut to $22 per hour and then fall gradually to about $16 per hour, sources famaliar with the proposal told The Detroit News.

"Delphi, which filed for bankrutcy protection in ctober, says its expensive U.S. labor agreements make it impossible to compete in a global economy. Delphi wants to cut its wage and benefit rates and has set a deadline of Thursday to reach an agreement with former parent General Motors Corp., the UAW and other unions.

"If no agreement is reached, Delphi could ask a bankruptcy judge to cancel its union contracts, an action that could lead to a devastating strike."

Buy as many clutch kits and brake parts as you can now. If their in bankruptsy, a strike would probably kill the company.

Welcome to the "World Economy" kiddies. Please be sure your seat backs are in the upright and locked position...
