While surfing Youtube looking for something else, I stumbled upon this interesting retrospective on inarguably the greatest comedy movie of all time. I first saw this movie as a kid at a hospital theater in Germany (Dad was stationed there). During this movie, a soldier who had just had surgery had to be taken to the emergency room because he literally busted his stitches from laughing too hard. It's in seven parts, so it's a little long, but if you're a fan of IAMMMMW, you will enjoy this.

EXCELLENT! I have that movie on DVD. One of my favorites.
 
Agreed! One of the all-time fun movies.

If I recall, there's a scene where the "group" is in a small boat, floating through a storm sewer system, and accidentally (?) mimics the painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware.

And the big W made from palm trees ...

Hysterical.

(tho' to me, one of the funniest comedies was What's Up Doc, with Ryan O'Neal and Barbara Streisand. "How much is it without bufferin?")
 
Without a doubt, this is one of my favorites. I happened to see it in the movies when it first came out. I can watch it 100 times and it still makes me laugh.
What a cast of comedians... the best of the best!
 
Lots of <span style="font-style: italic">Schtick</span>. I prefer the more subtle <span style="font-weight: bold">Young Frankenstein</span>.

That must have happened when I left the theater for the restroom. :shocked:

I don't think there has ever been any movie since with such a hugely talented cast. Did you know that even Buster Keaton is in that movie?

:yesnod: Yes I did! As well as the Three Stooges. I knew at the very beginning of the film when Jimmy Durante "kicked the bucket" it was going to be a good one!
 
Had to watch it this evening. No "boat" scene. You must be thinking of something else. I love the gas station scene where Jonathon Winters goes ballistic. "We're gonna have to kill him" Not to mention all the car chases and stunts. I did spot an old Fiat 500 and a TR3 in the background. there's also a silver 53 Corvette that shows up at least twice.
 
Toll booth scene. Thought my Old Man was gonna wet himself.

I always thought Ethel Merman was PERFECTLY cast as the mother-in-law! How funny, the interaction among Ms. Merman, Phil Silvers and Johnathan Winters during the road trip!

I just doens't get any better than this. It's like the casting agent was divinely inspired!

This movie had just about every comedian who was anybody in 1963. I'm sure they will try and remake it someday but it wont come close!!
 
Agree, Great movie. Thought Paul Ford giving instructions in the control tower landing scene was a hoot.
