Somerset dashboard

Looking for information on the Somerset dashboard. I have seen sketches online of the dashboard layout, but have been unable to find this. To the far right of the glove box, there are 2 buttons. The top a white button that says press, which is the windshield washer fluid. However under that all we have is a hole in the dash. Whatever was there was attached with 2 screws as evidenced by the holes next to the opening. I would love to solve the mystery??? Any ideas??? Thanks so much.

With the two screw holes, my guess would be a courtesy light.

Since your car is RHD, you may want to connect with some British owners of Somersets, particularly regarding something like this, all of the Canucks with LHD examples for export may have a different dashboard...

good point, not sure if you are a member of any clubs - especially in the UK as it is RHD. You may also want to join the BritCarTalk Yahoo group. It is the sort of unofficial online group of the British Saloon Car Club of Canada. I am a member of the BSCCoC and I am not really sure how much that would help you (there aren't a lot of members with "County" cars) but Joe Lightfoot (the guy with the cars in his yard - who I have emailed BTW) is a member of the Yahoo group.

Don't know anything about this club except that they exist.

BTW, please don't gather information and leave. As much as we love our own cars, MGs and Triumphs get a tad ordinary after a while. Having a Somerset to hear the tales of (and see the pictures of hint hint) and to help diagnose the issues of is genuinely interesting to all of us. (The same is true of my Vauxhall, rare as hen's teeth but the crowd around here are genuinely interested)
