Someone Talk Me Out of This

Well, I envy you guys using these as daily drivers. I used my Fiat Spider as a daily driver, but that was a very low mileage car when I bought it in perfect condition. By comparison, my TR6 that was owned by a mechanic has let me down on 3 out of 4 long trips in a major way. It's now at a point where I would trust taking it anywhere, but virtually everything has been replaced or rebuilt at this point.

My point is that buying an unknown LBC and expecting to use it as a dependable daily driver from "Day 1" could be problematic. I am not saying that it would be, but if it were me, I would be sure to have another means to get to work until any bugs are worked out.

I could have never used Sinsiter8 as my daily driver the first year as I worked out the bugs but now I put more miles on it from April thru November than on my "new" car. I have driven it regularly to DC, to Harrisburg, never really had any issues. The HUmmer only goes if I need some cargo space

Stirkle, that was ment to come across as a bit tongue in cheek, & Dan, I do agree. You have to be lucky to buy a reliable daily driver that's 26+ years old, no matter what make.

With my first 7 I found a service sticker on the windshield, & talked to them. They told me the car was very sound, but a bit sluggish. It gave me no trouble in 3 years of daily driving, & I used it until my present car was sorted. This one goes like stink, [for a 7 that is].

My 4.6L 8 has a 2003 model Range Rover engine in it, with 280 BHP. It does go like stink, but is still giving me trouble in the cooling department, when used in heavy traffic. It doesn't matter too much, as I can't realy afford its fuel consumption, for daily transport, & it has no problem on a run.

Phil
