Maybe its being sold to help that little girl in Nicaragua who needs that operation!

Revised ad

Looking more legit if ya ask me!

I, too, have emailed.

If this turns into a bidding war you guys are out of luck as I have just been awarded ÂŁ5 million (five million pounds) in the Microsoft Chinese New Year Promotion.

The revised ad asks for your phone number -- useful for a scammer as the last thing they need is a local buyer. BTW, the original ad is also still out there at the lower price. We'll see.

Outside of spoofing the e-mail address, what else could they do with it?

Well,

They get two important things from the transaction, a valid e-mail and they know something about you...for example you may bite on "classic cars", "British cars", "car part sales"...etc. The list goes on.

Next, they put together some bogus deals using that information and plaster your e-mail with it. Sooner or later the average Joe is going to see something interesting and click on it...then I hope your virus protection is up to it. Most are...but every so many they get an "in" to your computer as soon as you click. If you even allow cookies they can catch other simple stuff.

Do you bank with the same computer you surf with? They can get a lot of that info. They have access to your friend's email. My Uncle's computer has been sending me Viagra adds for 3 years...and he swears it is not. Netbot!

So...why are you worried about your phone number getting out? They are not legally allowed to telemarket a cell phone, and I screen all calls to the house line. If you have ever given your number to a store like Radio Shack...it's already been distributed all over with your name and address. They may be able to dig for your address, but most scammers are half a world away , so not much good to them.

I'm in Orange County if someone wants me to go look at it. In a rare display of self control, I have not tried to contact them myself. If it's legit, I would say the resellers are already all over this thing and a bidding war will soon erupt.

To everyone who tries to buy this car- You might be interested in this deal too

regarding this TR3.... you are correct.

Suspicious to me how they placed the car cover to obscure the license plate on all the shots. Fishy!

Talked to a dealer friend of mine and he said the car has been for sale for a few months now. They went over with cash but couldn't buy the car. Seller appears to be maneuvering for a bidding war as there is no clear price at which it can be bought.
