Ok, once again someone has a chance to drive (race) a big Healey as intended. With Monterey race history, this might be the most economical entry into the "Super Bowel" of vintage auto racing. If you've ever dreamed of challenging the famed Laguna Seca race track and take the 3-story drop of the Cork Screw turn, now's your chance. Take a ride on the wild side........

Dougie,

I was under the impression cars at Monterey had to have some period racing history in order to get an invite. This one doesn't seem to have any. I like the comparison of these two pics, though:

and this one from Derek's site:

Seller has some more info on BaT regarding period history:

I own the car pictured here. I appreciate everyone’s comments, as it seems that the consensus is it remain what it is, a historic race car. It is difficult to say when this car began it’s career as a racer. I’ve spent many, many hours looking for clues. I believe that J.C. Kilburn acquired this car for race events in the southern states, maybe from one of his racing contemporaries. I know he ran it extensively at Green Valley Raceway, as well as many other events in Texas and California.

The eBay ad has some more:

The trunk floor is attached to the rear shroud, though a couple of rivets have worked loose. Things like that happen over the course of 57 years. I believe the car has all of it's original panels, from what I've been able to see. The car was originally Healey blue, with blue interior and top. J.C. Kilburn had a sort of running feud with Donald Healey over the colors he would paint his cars. Mr. Healey insisted that the proper colors for an American privateer driver should be white with blue. Kilburn preferred his own livery, which also happened to the racing colors of Morocco. To that end he referred to his Black Bull Stables Racing as "the Royal Tangier's Auto Club". This was to annoy Healey, who apparently had given Kilburn trouble over his paint scheme. He even went so far to drive this car to a wedding he knew Healey was also attending, just to needle Healey a bit.. I repeat this story, as told to me by his ex-wife, who spoke with me somewhat reluctantly (J.C. is now in a care facility).

Here's a link to a 100 LeMans raced by Kilburn:

Well, if it ran at Riverside as the sticker tends to indicate it must have had at least some racing history as Riverside closed in 1989. I know I ran in the 4th annual final race at Riverside which I think was the 1987 Enduro...
You could probably tell some of it by reading the Tech stickers on the Rollbar. The only one I can make out from the pictures is from 1990.

Cheers,
Dan M.
