NFI, great wrenches. Dad has some, they are from the 60's or so. Good price too so far. This set should bring $60 delivered so anything less is a deal. Yeah, I know, should go in tools but there isn't much time. I would buy these but I just bought four sets of 'em. If someone is gonna steal them, I'd rather see it be a friend. New ones are no longer US made.

And this all started because I'm missing a wrench from another series...now I have four sets of these... :wall:

Somebody stop me !!! I blame this on Ben and Doug! :jester:

Don't blame it on me, I got lot's of tools. I didn't borrow yours! hehehe

I've a couple of those, only criticism is they're 12-point. Fine for that 1/8 turn trapped-between-the-frammus-and-widget circumstance but "iffy" when ya gotta really crank on somethin'.

That said, I would never give away the 7/16"x 1/2" version.

Doc, I've "crunk" down on these so hard as a kid w/ a cheater pipe the wrench will bend before it'll slip on the nut if said nut is in good shape. I'm talking about the big ones too. (Why you think I'm huntin' them for dad? :D)

Interesting to see you like 6 pt. I hate then, sockets too unless impact or use w/ air tools. For whatever reason, it seems I can never find a nut or bolt where a 6 pt will get on it. (I guess it musta been tightened up w/ a 12 pt. :jester: )

My two favs are the 10-11 and 3/8-7/16. Nice, long thing and strong...lessin' a kid with a cheater pipe gets a'holt of it. :hammer:

7/16-1/3 is a good one too. Doc, you got the double line or single on your smaller wrenches?

Double on that 12-point box-end, also on a 12-point 1/2" x 9/16". Single on the small open-end ones. Most of my wrenches are Snap-On or Proto, a smatterin' of cheaper ones like "Everest" metric line wrenches and a couple "GearWrench" pieces.

I bought a few sets of cheapies from Advance for $20 which included mm and standard with the stubby version too. I'm shocked at how good they are for the price. Those are in my JY set. I've been beatin' on 'em w/o any bend or slip problems. Best bang fer the buck wrench wise I've ever seen. Aint nuthin wrong w/ a cheap wrench as long as it's a good wrench.

I've been noticing a quality difference b/w the single and double line V series. The doubles are longer and thinner and seem to be better quality forgings. That's what dad has(d). I prefer those even though the singles may be resist bending some but just aren't as elegant.

Yeah, yeah, I know, "elegant" wrenches... " :smirk: "

I have a set of cheap 6 point std and metric sockets I use, not to damage a new or original bolt on a restoration. Might be overkill, but I feel better using them.
Most of my tools are old time Craftsman, most of the tools I used working on construction equipment are Snap On Because they would take a lot of abuse and the truck was on the job sites every week, just in case.(Grin) Yes, they will break also!. My British car tools for the T series are King Dick, got to get more, but have to tell the wife Christmas is coming! PJ

I like everything about snap-on but the price.

$415 for a 1/4" ratchet, 6 sockets and a 3" extension is nuts!

That'll buy a LOT of Craftsman or Adavance Autoworks tools.

With ya there, Billy. I was floored when I went on a truck recently to buy a 1/4" drive U-J... $40!!! whuh??? nevermind.

My Snappy guy will drive over to my house when I call, tho.

WOW! We couldn't even get ours to stop at the shop on a regular basis! The MAC guy would only come if we called and complained the the regional rep that we had broken tools.
Guess we didn't buy enough.
Tool guys are having a hard time in these parts anyway. Mechanics don't make as much here as in other places, but the tool companies charge the same. Snap-on guys don't tend to last long. we had 3 in the course of 5 years. The last one was a company rep sent to cover the area to keep the shops happy.

I've done a fair amount of business with our dealer, known him since the mid-80's. He's even transported my boxes without charging. Good guy.

My Snap-On guy won't driver over to my house, but he will meet me somewhere if I call him on his route. No probs taking special orders either; like my splined sockets.

$48.50 delivered, not bad.

I paid $80+ for a 9 piece set.

Snap-on guy? Can't find that guy fer nuthin'!

Well, dad doesn't want them.
