Some quick questions

I've got a 1978 Spitfire 1500 I'm getting close to putting back on the road. I've gotten rid of the bumper overriders in back, so just have the narrow chrome bumper there. Up front I have the euro spec overriders and the stock spoiler. I want to mount some type of driving lights, but want them to be period correct, if possible. Problem is, I can't recall what is period correct since I was 6 in 1978, lol!! So, any tips on some lights?

Second question is that I want some type of alloy wheels, be they minilite replicas or TR7/8 alloys, etc. anyone have any leads on those? I'm restoring my steel wheels and will keep them on for everday use, but the alloys will be for autocrossing. Thanks for your help.

Considering the modifications you've already made, I wouldn't worry too awfully much about "period correct"! That said, pretty much any rectangular or round (and I'm not talking the little tiny things available nowadays) lamp would be fine. Just one example would be Cibie lights, although some models, such as Oscars and Super Oscars, might be just too big and / or too deep to fit well.

I'm trying to replicate what I can recall growing up in Rhinebeck, NY. Lots of Triumphs there in the 70's and 80's. Most took off overriders, put on some type of driving lights, etc. I think I'll just have to go and make some mockups of the various lights to see how they look. I want more of an amber tone to them. That link was pretty good. Gave some cool ideas. Thanks.

Hey, not too far from where I still am now, in the Capital Region. That entire corridor from Albany to New York City was almost always good for imports. (Heck, the Albany area once had an authorized Fairthorpe dealer!)

You're welcome! You could even look for true period Lucas Square 8s, but they tend to get pricey, and later versions of same sometimes weren't very good lamps then or now. And amber-lens versions seem to be very scarce!

Square-8's!! YES!

I've a set on the MGB here. Not quite right for the '64 but they were supposed to be for the +2 and I didn't have a set of "Flamethrowers" handy. On they went.
