Second wipe down completed and now waiting for it to be dry enough to bisque fire. ( which will be tommorrow or the following day.
 
I shoulda' put my order in.. those are beautiful.....
Can one be made by inverting a pot of the same general shape, and carefully knocking out the bottom(now the top)? or is there more to them than that?
 
You can still have one. I have two already made that are vase shaped that havn't been glazed yet. Kelly is taking a class from a real prominant potter and I saw a shape there I really like. Round like the one pictured but w/ bumps and indentions. ( not perfectly round.)

You want a vase or round shape?
 
I really like the round one in the picture. The color and patterns are great. I know you like to change it up with every one, but I'm sure whatever you make would be excellent. I better get some pricing details first before I try and claim one. send me a PM if you would.
Have you thought of doing a longer vase style one with openings in the sides like a strawberry pot? 'Course that might get pretty heavy as the plants grow.

Actually yes, been meaning to work on that. Might work on it tommorrow. Our green onion planter is similar to that.


These things are suprisingly strong. Attatchment point is the biggest issure. Just make sure you have it hung from a strong hook. The regular planter with a full size tomato plant usually runs about 10-20 lbs soaking wet full of fruit.

O.K guys, both of your pieces are dry enough to bisque fire and are awaiting the wife's sig. She usually doesn't sign these but will for you guys. We did an art walk tonight and I brought some planted ones as an afterthought and sold out. I love seeing people react to them. I put allot of work in making them green and heathy. I almost hate letting my plants go, but a feela can only have so many things to care for. Cuts into my driving time too much. :driving:
 
Stainless multi-strand cable (think:sailboat rigging) and a well anchored hook oughta be good.
 
Doc, it uses decorative chain which you can't see beacause the plant got so big. The hook is just to hang it for the shot. I thought about stainless cable, but the chain looks much better. The cable looks too industrial on it.

Gotta make some more today. Just got an email from someone who wants 6.

That would be great cause we're broke. Ever heard how a "potter's grave " is unmarked? That's cause they aint got no money... TRUST ME !!!

Just been bisque fired night before last. I've been meaning to let you guys know, but everytime I come to the 'puter, I get sidetracked. I guess I shouldn't check posts first. She gonna glaze then real soon, she's teaches pottery classes all week long and hasn't had time, not to mention; she has to do 6 horse hair commissioned pieces for gifts for the ladies helping a friend w/ his wedding.


Both are gonna be the same color as the one pictured. I hope they'll be done by next week.
 
Awesome. I know you guys are busy. Sounds like me. I got more to do than I have space for, and I'm going to get my brothers TR6 tomorrow to get it back on the road.(Like I need more to do)
Hehehehe. At least I can do things, and I have things to do. That in its self is a blessing. Make sure you guys get all your required projects done first. this is just extra (Like I needed to say that). hehehehe.
 
Waiting for the glaze fired pieces to cool enough toc open the kiln. Probabaly won't be till later tonight. All I'll haver to do then is make the hanging chain and they're done. I'll get pics when I can for you guys.

Ben, yours has a little more of the reddish color in it on top and bottom. The center looks the same. The glaze changes colors depending on thickness and current conditions durring firing. Like I said, no two alike and you'll NEVER see another one like it!
 
That's awesome. I always loved that about pottery. you never know exactly how it will be till it's done.
I can't wait.
 
I've got a virus on my box. I'll post pics and direction for planting when I get this straight.
 
Planter arrived safe and sound (I had my doubts looking at how the PO had handled the box that was marked "fragile" all over) your packing job worked very well.
The planter is awesome! I can't wait to get a tomato plant in there, top it off with some herbs, and post a picture! Using your provided "tomato plant retention device" it looks to be a pretty straight forward process, but I'll wait for instructions to make sure.
