Some more 'Guess these...'

Should be easy for some, educational for others. There are two... After someone figures out the make (should be pretty quick with this crowd) how about some guessing of the years! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Yep, I'd say those are Morgans too(47 to 51 is my guess for the years!) But guessing the years is kinda tough when their technology stayed so constant for so many years! You allowed the MG to show in the background just to confuse the issue didn't you. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

The give-away is the door shape and front end!

See, I knew the make would be easy for you all. The car that is rolling is a '55 (I think, brain fade, sorry). The car that is front and center in the second photo is the prize though. Its older.

Trying to have someone guess the year of a Morgan is always fun on the older cars precisely because they didn't change a whole lot. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

The older car came into the shop as a 1949. Then, after a little digging, some things didn't make sense as a 1949 and some did. Still not a big suprise for a Morgan right.

The original title had been lost long ago and it ended up getting retitled a few times, all incorrectly. After hours of scouring the stripped down car for clues, photos emailed to and many hours on the phone with the good folks at Morgan, the cars identity was discovered.

Long story short is that the car is actually a 1939 Morgan that had recieved some updates somewhere in its life, the brakes and gauges were updated to 1949 specs. According to Morgan, this car was one of the last cars produced before they closed up for WWII. The factory logbook indicates a very hurried assembly and getting it out the door as fast as they could. Which also explains why it was so hard to identify the car. Many places that were supposed to hold identifiers, such as the frame, didn't have any numbers to identify it, but did have all the needed indicators to convince Morgan that it still had the original chassis. (The chassis' shown in the photos are brand new on both Morgans.)

Oh, its also a four seater and the engine was a Standard unit. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Sidevalve I think, its been a while since I've seen the engine. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Very neat! I'd not have guessed pre-war from what I can see. Good bit of detective work.

I would suggest not a lot of work goes on in that shop. It's so clean.

There is a LOT going on in that shop. So much that such cleanliness is needed to keep it all straight. Aside from general LBC maintenance going on, the list of ongoing restorations includes those two Morgans, a Herald, an MG TD, an Austin Healey 100-4, an Arnolt Coupe, the MG TC is going to be restored and modified some what, another MG TD getting steroid injections from a B while being restored and a TR6 being restored and modified. Some of the major maintenance jobs going on there currently include a MkII Jaguar getting its engine rebuilt, a Lotus Europa getting its suspension bits renewed, an MGB getting a brake job and there are a few project cars as well. Oh, and there is also a 1967 Mustang being restored there as well.

On top of all that work, they open there doors most every Saturday morning for Coffee and Donuts, while there for snaks you can walk around and check the progress on things. So every Friday afternoon includes a clean up session. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Must be really hard to keep the sawdust down to a minimum with all those older LBCs being worked on!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

..And the Terminix bill up to date... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
