Last night, under cover of a rainstorm, right beside my freakin' <span style="font-style: italic">front door</span>. I was home, my wife was home, my inlaws were home, and none of us heard a thing. :shocked:

Why on <span style="font-style: italic">earth </span>would anyone go to the trouble to steal a thirty year old crappy AM radio without so much as a provision for an external speaker? Just yanked it right out. :cry: I didn't even think you could <span style="font-style: italic">get </span>a radio out the front, past the shift lever.

I feel so...violated. :pukeface: It had great value to me; it was a NOS ebay find that did just what I wanted it to. It wouldn't have any value to anyone else, though. It's some small consolation to think of the punk's face when he realizes it's not worth anything.

Nothing in the glovebox, under the seats, or in the trunk was taken. (so far as I can tell) So at least there's that.

I guess I'm lucky that he/they didn't vandalize anything, or damage the console. I'll probably take the console out until I can find another radio...I don't know if I can look at that great gaping hole every day until then. :cryin:
 
Bill, you have a PM - However, you might want to go for a walk ASAP - look under hedges, in garbage cans - anywhere in throwing distance. I've had it before where someone has stolen something and discarded it close by when they found it wasn't what they thought. I've retrieved a few items that way.

Oh, and it sucks!
 
Condolences. I hate that feeling. There really are more decent people on earth than bad ones, though it sometimes doesn't seem like it.
 
Unfortunately, this is the world we live in, and the only real option is to protect yourself and your stuff. Best option is to report it, then recognize that much worse could have happened, and get on with life. It's just not worth obsessing over.

Oh, yeah, and keep a couple bricks handy in case the little $#!^*^%@# comes back lookin' for more....

I guess you should look at it from a brighter side; They / He / She did`nt take the whole darn car!!

I'd follow JP's suggestion, Bill. Th' maroon likely hit ya then "inspected" his score and realized it was useless to him. Your radio is likely less than 100 yards from you.

Put some cheap (X-10) cameras up around the house, tell a few neighbors they're there... you'd be surprised how word filters down.
 
Don't forget to check the nearest pawn shops.
Man, I hope you recover it.
 
Maybe they knew what was up. Keep an eye on ebay. You'd be suprised how many vintage AM radios get yanked to wind up there. Can't find one in the pick-yer-part to save yer life.

File a police report!
 
Serious bummer! Looking around the area sounds like good idea.
 
A sweep of the neighborhood turned up nothing, and there's lots of good places to throw stuff. It's a good area; mostly old retired fixed-income folks. In ten years living here this is the first bit of crime I've seen. I have a bad feeling this was a swoop-and-grab. If they just threw it in the back seat and moved on, they might not have realized it was junque until they were far away. I searched the trunk: tools, wrenches, sockets, multimeter, timing light, cap, wires, plugs, filters, etc., all there. Even the convenient tarp to pile everything on. :rolleyes: Maybe they couldn't figure out how to get the trunk open.
