I have the same flip hinges on my car. My car is bumperless, so I made mine to open further. You do need to be careful and make sure you have clearance before opening the bonnet so that the lights do not get smashed into a curb or something.
I've also witness the front flip bonnets get blown shut by wind at car shows, so you need to stick a bolt in that slide to lock it in place if you are at a car show on a windy day.

Yes this will happen. If you have the bumper installed the hood will fall down pretty easily because it just barely opens beyond it's balance point. I was thinking about putting on a prop rod or locking slide or something. Just have never gotten around to figuring our what would be best. Have you seen any built in hood support systems?
