Solzhenitsyn dead at 89

Read "The First Circle"
I will have to discuss this with some of my Russian friends at work today. For the most part, they grew up while Solzhenitsyn was still banned and they had to read bootleg copies of his books. An experience which we have a somewhat difficult time relating to in the western, free world.

One of my favorites of his is
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich (SI)
It is a thin book but I have read it multiple times.

He was a real-life hero who stood up for his beliefs.

He was also a WWII vet, volunteered for duty.

Very brave man.

RIP.
