Solved the oil cooler mounting problem in my Bugeye!

Finally! I found a great way to mount an oil cooler in my Bugeye! After purchasing a 13 row cooler from Victoria British, I discovered that its width was about 1/4" less than the opening in the ducting that covers the front of the radiator when the bonnet is closed. After LOTS of measuring, I fabricated a couple of brackets so that I could use the upper bolts that hold the radiator in to also hold the oil cooler. I did bend the opening of the ducting about 1/8" on each side to give a little more clearance, and the bonnet now clears the cooler and closes without a problem. As you can see in the photos, the cooler sits about 3" in front of the radiator. The brackets are made from aluminum stock I bought at Home Depot. All I have left to do now is get some hoses installed, which will require cutting a small clearance in the ducting at the top on the passenger side. Halfway there!

I think you'll need a t-stat with a 13 row cooler. I have an 11 row plumbed without a stat. My 1275 is bored 20 over w/ HC pistons and a mildly hot cam. I run a header and 1 1/2 strait exhaust. The 11 row is plenty of cooling surface in a climate much hotter than yours.
Oil that never reaches temp is as bad a oil that's too hot.

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself, but thought I might first install a sensor to see just what sort of temperature I get and then go from there.

There should be room for an electric fan between the radiator and the oil cooler. I am still using a mechanical fan and don't have an electric one installed right now, although I have one I could use. I want to wait and see if the oil cooler by itself is sufficient before deciding on the electric fan.
