[solved] Sunpro Fuel Gauge... going crazy!

Re: Sunpro Fuel Gauge... going crazy!

I like pictures, so here is 2 from the install.

Inside. Yes, thats the original stock light in the gauge. Fits and works perfectly.

Outside. Sure looks nice! Can't wait to get into the install of all the other gauges!

All the gauges are being replaced, cept the tach and speedo, which are getting red needles. This is just the 1st one

I suppose I should mention that I'm adding 3 more gauges... Vacuum, Volt, and Oil PSI.

Re: Sunpro Fuel Gauge... going crazy!

So... did you figure out if the fuel sending unit resistance range is correct for the Sunpro?

Sorry if my first explanation on where to get the switched 12V supply wasn't clear. I'm glad you got this sorted out.

No idea, honestly... but I'm changing the sending unit too, so I don't really see that it will matter much. The paperwork that came with the fuel gauge did not actually have any info for the the fuel gauge, so again, I have no idea. I also have no idea how I would go about finding out, short of calling Snap-on and asking them.

I've had a Sunpro temp gauge in my TR3A for well over a decade; don't recall anyone ever commenting on it.

But then, there were plenty of other things "wrong" ... usually folks noticed the TR6 wheels (with TR3 hubcaps) first and figure I'm a lost cause for originality after that

Wow, nice to hear their reputation for reliability is holding up as advertised

Re: Sunpro Fuel Gauge... going crazy!

Well, to be fair, it was a bit sticky after being idle for a few years (after the car was wrecked) and transplanted to the TR3. But it seems to have freed up nicely now after being cycled a few dozen times

Re: Sunpro Fuel Gauge... going crazy!

Pete

on the Sunpro site they show 1 sender
CP 7583

full 33 ohms
1/2 130 ohms
empty 240 ohms

that looks close to the factory readings according to Doug Ls post

Thats the one I have sitting on a set of racing rims in my garage right now

Thanks for the specs! Having been out of the country for so long, and in one where internet is extremely limited, has mad my brain forget that everyone has a website... lol
