Solid Throttle Disk for HIFs

Anyone know the number for the solid throttle disk to replace the valved disk on a 72 HIF carb? I'm getting tired of the slow idle back because of them, plus with the valve type, it won't idle down as much as I want. No I don't want to solder them, just replace them. PJ

My parts book from Octagon Motor Group in Vancouver BC says AUC3116 and it shows the same number for the valveless disc for the HS 4 also...Mark

Yep, same one as the HS4, some of the HIF4 have a protruding tube at the throttle disc, and the HIF butterflie has a notch there to clear it, the earlier HIF 4 the tube is flush with the carb body, so no notch in the butterfly. I convert all my SU rebuilds to the early HS4 solid butterfly, if I have the HIF with the protruding tube, I use a die grinder and flush it out like the earlier HIF4s so I can use the solid butterfly, I prefer not to make the notch in the butterfly, but rather modify the protruding tube. Hope this helps.

Thanks Mark and Hap, I think I'll replace the butterfly's this winter and get everything ready for spring. I don't like driving in cold weather.PJ

Replaced mine when they were rebuilt, seems to be the norm.

My carbs were perfectly rebuilt to 1972 factory specs, that's why the valved butterfly's are still in there. But, their going to go. PJ

How come Octagon says that the number for the solid disk is AUC3116, when Moss says it's AUD52/135? From past memory, if CRS hasn't taken over, the AUD number seems to ring a bell. PJ

Hmmm...could be a clue as to who Octagon gets their parts from.My Victoria British cat. says AUD52/135 too. Mark
