It's natural I guess. I sold my 79 Bronco that I bought new after owning it for 8 years. It was in pristine condition, but sat in one of the garage bays for 2 years. When it went down the drive, I was kicking my self for selling it, as we had so many good times in it. We went on a 9000 mile trip in it once pulling a small camping trailer. I still miss it. Oh, I did see it once about 6 months later and it was all beat up! That made me real sick, disgusted really. I'll never sell anything local again! When it goes, I don't ever want to see it! PJ

I actually cried when i sold my first Triumph. I had owned 15 years- been through a lot with that chunk of steel and aluminum.....

We do get attached to these old machines. I know I had a hard time selling the Tunebug, but in the end it was the right thing to do.

Had we all the resources of Jay Leno we'd probably never sell any of them on. Since most of us don't, we have to do the serial collection -- one in, one out. That's okay too. You did what you needed to do, Doug, and now you will be able to sort out other things that need attention. Spend a little time with your MG and you won't feel as bad.

It never fails with me, Doug. Think of the countless hours spent fixing, wrenching, tinkering, polishing . . . then driving on bright, sunny days. Think of all the time, work and money you put into the car. And the car shows, the friends made, the happy times that car provided.

No wonder we get emotionally attached the the danged machines. So much, in fact, that when the time comes we want to sell her to a "good" owner: someone who will care about the car and preserve her for another owner to enjoy. And so on . . .

Lots of us feel the same way as you, Doug. And maybe those who don't are really missing out on one of life's great pleasures?:yesnod:

I have missed a number of the vehicles I have sold over the years...but I recover. I enjoy looking back at the photos and the thinking of the memories. The worst was selling my first car to a junk yard because transmissions kept dying, and it was hard to find good ones as it was the weak link of the car. But just like when a friend dies, we move on while keeping the fond memories...

Just be happy it didn't die owing you money like some of my friends.
