The Porsche is gone, now the BMW is off to a new home, next I'm eyeballing the Type 3. Then I'd be down to 1 toy car and the 2 daily drivers.
Will I regret it? Probably. But now I don't have to save up for the stuff it needed, like tires, brakes, muffler, valve cover gasket, plugs, hoses, e-brake cable, idle control motor, a/c clutch bearing.......
Who knows what might come down the line next. I had that E30 for 9 years. I had my fun. now I have more time to play with the Bus.

Nothing wrong with clearing out some stuff so you can focus in on something. Getting more cars to play with is always easy to do (I know this all too well  ).

It's nice to have just one needy car to put all your resources into.

Easier said than done, tho. :smirk:

Even though I'm on the opposite equation (for now), I totally get it.

Anyone want to buy a nice, 73 year old airplane? :friendly_wink:

Talk about "from frying pan to fire"!!

Yup. gotta thin the heard. Too much needy machinery not enough time or funds. and I'm in a place where I want to focus more on art, music, and doing things with the family rather than diverting all our funds into forever projects. I'm having a blast with the bus. It's going to suck up enough time and money, but at least it's usable and the whole family can come along. I've been focusing on local history lately. taking the bus (Clementine) on archeological expeditions to discover local sites. We've attended local festivals and campouts and have filled almost every weekend this summer with something. Clementine is a perfect fit for it all. Will another car come along. Probably. I think the rust, grease, and old oil are in my bones. I'll always be a car guy, it's just not the center of my life right now.
Do a search on google, facebook, or instagram for "#gramdragon" to follow my latest experiment. I'm testing to see if I can sustain a daily comic. The drawings are crude. It's more of a test of coming up with daily ideas. If it works out, it should get better.
Well, off to the local comi-con today with my Dot. Then next weekend is a Bluegrass festival, the following weekend is a living history encampment, and after that is the Watkins Glen Vintage Festival!!!!!! Phew!

Busses are fun!

My Dad had a red and white one when we were kids (7 kids) just like the first photo.

In the late 60s, I drove it to college for a while. It increased my popularity on campus.

We have a VW show at a German Summer Camp near us every Summer. Lots of nice sedans, Kombis, etc.
Here's some of the stuff I saw at the last show.

Great picture Nial, I always liked the looks of the Microbus in all its forms.

Had 2 BMW's, a 2002 and a 535IS, both were a blast to drive but I never was so relieved when each was gone. No bimmers for me.

I'm drooling over those split windows.

Wow. The prices on those 21 windows are going out of sight.

Love the Brundage one!

Saw this one at the Misselwood Concours in Beverly, MA a couple of weeks ago.

That looks like a restored version of the one Jerry Sienfeld used in one episode of comics in cars getting coffee. the one with the guy that played Cramer.

Will you have a car at the Glen on Friday, or is this Dad's year to go solo? You could always sneak the bus into the group at M Falls. I must have missed the post on the Porsche selling.

I'll be there Dale! I've entered Clementine the Bus in the Concorso Speciale. That is the oddball event. Fitting huh? Stop by when your rally gets in town. I'll have some cold ones in the fridge. (Ahhhh the advantages of driving a vintage camper!)That goes for anyone else here that will be in Watkins too. Look for the big orange VW Bus parked with all the oddball cars. Can't wait to see you guys.
