Sold a painting!!!

WOW Steve... it looks fantastic!

Glad to hear ya sold one. I've been telling you for years you have a fine gift and a great talent. Now et busy and crank out a bunch more and make a bundle.

Yes, it does look better in person! It has deeper tones and a more vibrant red than the scanned version.
I have it prominently displayed (out of direct sunlight) in my home office.
Thanks Steve.
I really enjoy having it.

Hope you got a lot of Monet!

Ya mean Manet, don't ya Elliot? :smirk: :jester:

Too many French painters doc.... glad Steve is giving them competition.
I just may have to sell my Elvis painting on black velvet that I bought at a gas station some years back. I'm sure it has to be worth a fortune today :jester:

That's what 'smits dubbed "Velvis" artwork. :jester:

Doc- The ones s'mits is describing are Cheesy forgeries... mine is authentic (at least that's what the art/petrol connoisseur at the gas station told me) :smirk:

Just a little milestone.....

I was invited to attend a fall colour drive and exhibit my artwork at the "base camp". Met BCF member RomanH there, and he asked to buy my portrayal of Nigel Mansell (Il Leone) in his Ferrari F1 car......

So, some good news and a somewhat bittersweet occasion, as I was really rather fond of that one!

Just thought I'd share.

Very nice work Steve. I looked at your other stuff in the forum gallery, and it is indeed very good.

I've sold some watercolors in the past, and the day I sold my first one, I thought is was great. WOW, someone likes my stuff enough to buy it! I exhibited in several art shows and had some in a local gallery. But after awhile, I realized, that once the painting was gone, that was it. People tell me, "Well, just paint another one!" Another one will NOT be the same. It can't be. Besides, I don't know if I would ever want to paint the same one again. It's always something else I'd rather paint.

Yes, it is bittersweet. You definitely lose some of yourself when the painting leaves. I think the only way out of this dilemma is to produce prints of the art work so you can keep the originals.

I haven't painted in a few years...mostly because I was spending time restoring the TR3. That's done now, so maybe it's time to pick up the brushes again.

A Manet is what you buy when you don't have the Monet!

Congrats Steve! Must be a great feeling, despite what you're saying in between the lines... :smirk:

And all that the sale means is creating a new piece to replace it, I know you're up to the challenge... It's all good in the end

I have to admit, I'm jealous of you paint artists. I can paint a wall like nobody's business....but that's about it.
