soft tops-is british everflex worth it?

Question to all that have had both types of vinyl top-robbins and british everflex. Is the everflex worth the extra $$$. Does it not shrink? Does it look better? Does it last longer?
Thanks
Rob-tr4

i know my 4a came with everflex with tan cloth inside. i could not find even though advertised that way. looked all over. ended up with everflex, i think, with gray in from roadster factory. having to run a top up quite a bit here i think light inside is worth it. not that much $ diff but makes it feel better, roomier inside. now if you would just run down to the states and put in my od.

I would never pay a premium for Everflex. When it's cool, any vinyl becomes neverflex. Just remembered another reason to choose vinyl over canvas, Vinyl sounds "snuggier" when you're parked beside the road waiting out a cloudburst because the wipers quit working.

Opa,
saw that soft top thread before i started this one. My top needs to be white. I don't like white canvas. If i wanted black, that's a different story. At roadster factory, the robbins is about $300 and everflex about $500. So if you have tried both, is the everflex worth it?

somebody must be buying the everflex otherwise it wouldn't be carried any more.Is it just an originality thing?

Sorry, thought you missed it....
I think it was worth it,to me anyway, but if I had to have a white top....probably wouldn't use canvas either. As I mentioned in the other post, the vinyl top did well, but it was starting to pull up on the sides to the point it was leaking in a downpour while driving. I'm getting to old for that, and it was getting pretty hard to put up when it was cold out.(shrinkage)By the time I got it clamped at the windscreen,I had to go change...My old top is still in service in the Vancouver area, gave it to a friend in the club that travels with me a fair bit.Believe or not it fits better on his than it did on mine even tho his is the same year (75).... go fiqure

Opa,
no i'm not. reason being i don't consider myself a triumph owner. I have a basket case tr4 that is under destruction/reconstruction. I have been buying parts and pieces to turn it into a stockish appearing semi-race modified. I am engineering many special bits but want to keep all triumph drivetrain. I have a parts car also. I don't plan to come out of the woodwork till it's done. Need to focus on actually working on it when i can.

Rob, I fitted an Everflex top to my TR3 about 16 years ago. It is still as flexible as the day I fitted it. I suspect that it may have shrunk slightly, but not enough to make putting it up difficult. Living in Scotland, it gets a reasonable amount of use, but doesn't have to put up with much in the way of heat! I fit it to the car when it is not in use over the winter in an attempt to prevent shrinkage.
