Soft Side Curtains

Thought I'd pass along some pics of a set of soft side curtains a crafty friend made for my TR3.

They're cloth and use a combination of LTDs, velcro and a loop to secure them in place.

Held in place fine on a test drive though I stayed local and only got up to 65 mph. My friend has tested his set in a Monsoon rain and they worked quite well.

The passenger side is easy as you can snap it in place from the outside, for the driver's side you leave the LTDs loose and snap them once you're seated by reaching under or just unzipping the window and reaching out.

Here's the whole point of these vs my rigid side curtains: these roll up and fit into a cloth Harbor Freight bag for travel.

I've traveled a lot with the side curtains in the boot -- like a spare tire, seldom needed but you hate to be far from home without them. This set shuld be just the thing to cover the possible need w/o using a lot of available storage space.

Ok sign me up if your friend is starting a cottage industry for those - they look very useful.

Did you need to add velcro to your existing hood or anywhere else to keep it in place?

That looks like a great idea George. Even better if he could make the clear window area a bit larger. Try to reduce the blind spots while driving. As Randy says is he going to market them, and can you get them in other colors if he is.

Looks like something very useful. I hope your friend does make more including white.

Please let us know if he makes more.

Thanks for sending.

Paul

I anticipated that very question and already asked him -- 'If I wanted to work for money I wouldn't have retired'.

I'm sorta hoping that one of the guys here who sew other stuff for sale might get inspired to try this.

No modifications to the hood -- he had seen others (Illinois) that used velcro &/or snaps added to the hood but he wanted something that would not mess with the stock stuff.
