My shop has lots of telescoping magnets, magnets on flex tubing, magnets on fiberglass rods, short claws, long claws, claws that flex, flex fiber-optics with magnets. I drop lots of stuff and even if it's just on the ground, I'm happy if it's iron, cause my back is shot. But I was showing off my v12 one day about five years ago, to the Fed Ex driver and he fiddled with one of the engine cover 1/4 turn screws that are spring loaded and it has not been seen since. Took me two years of searching the net to find a couple in the UK for $20. Then there was the time that my Snap-on 10 mm socket dropped into my wife's dash and has not come back out yet. Magnets and claws were useless in both cases but they are never more than arms reach away.
