So who drove their MG this weekend?

After a week of major sub zero cold it warmed up 60 degrees and that was enough for me to say the heck with it and pull the 73B out of it's winter cave as it was up to 23f. If I had a heated garage I would of taken the top down but I dont think I would of been able to get it back on with the current temps.

Car fired right up and ran great and did well in the snow. Got a ton of strange looks. I did find some problems with driving a MG this time of year. Winter shoes do not work well when it comes to trying to press just one pedal. It's almost impossible to see or be seen at intersections when the snow berms are a few feet higher than top of the car and the windshield wipers may freeze to the windshield.

Wished I could drive it today but I have the '74 outside while I work on a friends '67 GT. of course since it's been outside, the snow came and now it's buried in snow, and snowing heavily right now and 15Âş. Oh the joys of winter.

Didn't drive the B yesterday, but I did take the TR8 out for a quick trip. This afternoon, if it doesn't rain/snow, I'll get the B out for some exercise.

Top up, of course!

I made an MG-related trek with Pete Mantell and Dave Kirkman. We drove from Illinois to Wayland, MI for a gathering of enthusiasts at FastCars, Inc (Ted and Judy Lathrop were hosts) and then home (0500-2200 and about 500 miles round trip).

A good time was had by all despite the somewhat hazardous road conditions in southwest Michigan.

It was in the low 50's here yesterday so I got to make a quick trip with the top down. Not sure I've made a trip with the top up since December, as it has been unseasonably warm in Northern Colorado so far this winter. There is still a bit of snow in spots that don't get any sun but for the most part the ground and roads are clear and dry.

I tested out my new oil pressure hose in the B yesterday, just drove it around the block. Good pressure on the gauge and no leaks!
I drove my Midget around too.

MGB and race-Spridget are inside in warm (crowded) workshop shop....too cold!
I'll admit, I'm looking forward to Spring, but we make the best of things!

So instead we walked out on our lake (which is solid as a rock) to hang out with friends who were ice-fishing.

This is a weird hobby....weirder than spending all your money on LBCs.
And the fish (pickerel) you catch are almost inedible.

But it's cheap to do and the social part of it is fun
(everyone makes a fire and has a flask  )

Just so's ya don't use what's in the flask to make the fire! :smirk:

At first glance I thought those things were boomerangs with scales!!

Hmm... have ya tried throwin' one to see if it'd return, Nial??? :jester:

Mid 50's and our B is still in the garage. We did see a couple of TR's today and a B out enjoying the warm spell.

I took a fast drive along Skyline Blvd in the Oakland California hills. Stopped and took a shot with downtown San Francisco in the background, the Golden Gate Bridge on the right of the photo.

We got a bit of snow last nite. The GT will probably see some action at lunch time. It lives outside. Bob
