If you ever see a light blue ranger as some one did with a bugeye behind it, that's me getting ready to turn on the A/C.

The adventure is knowing that it will run when you get there.

The adventure is wondering if you have it tied down well enough.

The adventure is cruse control and stero that you can hear.

The adventure is in the building I suspect.
 
I agree that there is adventure in the building/rebuilding of the car, but the challenge and sense of excitement comes from the challenge of putting the car through its paces and winning. When I make a drive to a car show my prize is how well the car drives/handles on the way there and back. I could car less about the trophy/plaques. In fact, I have a stack of them in the garage collecting dust/overspray. I needed a thin slab of wood for a temporary spacers the other day and guess what: I had a plaque just the right size... I only had to saw the bottom third off ot it.
 
The only time that one of my MGs will be on a trailer is if it's broken....or has been stolen.

As long as my health allows, I will be DRIVING my MGs to and from meets such as MG2006.

The road trip is half of the adventure!

I am kinda on the fence here....It's great fun to drive your car, but I do understand what Jack is saying....If I had the space for it I'd definatly have a trailor, at least for my TC.
 
Sure, as I've said in another thread. There are some cars that just don't cut the mustard in modern traffic for long distances. However, a bugeye or a MGB should be fine. A TR3/MGA would be OK too.
 
I drove my Bugeye from Atlanta to Iowa and back to school for a 30 day stay one time, the adventure was haveing it there in a small town where no one knew what it was.

Gosh that was a heck of a ride, long and hot and noisey. But I will say this I got a good generator rebuild in Iowa City that lasted another 15 years or so till I sold the car.
 
I'm assuming the original, 40 year old gauge is just not working. Would be easy to check miles IF my odometer worked. Not enough time to get the speedo out to Nisonger and back. Checked the speedo shops around here, they couldn't work on it.
 
Can't you pick one up from someone in your club. It seems there are always people in our club with spare parts lying about.
 
hey bird. there's a spedo shop in Belleville on Lebanon avenue just as you go over the bridge that crosses the metrolink. Allen's I think.

I seem to recall that they fixed mine for cheap back in the 80's and when I was out there last month I was surprised to see it still in business when I drove by.
 
Yup, called them. And 2 shops in the STL area.
