So what would Dale Sr, think.......

Name-o-the-game...follow the money!!! Taint racin nomore!!
Well, maybe, race for the bucks (in generic clone-machines), not run what ya brung! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Oh, for the good ol' days! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif

I read in the local paper that he makes
$20.1 MILLION a year. And people pay him to buy
shirts,hats,etc. to advertise him.Am I the only
one who thinks that this is a little bit weird?
Also,when you're a multi millionare,how could
you possibly relate to the "Little People"?
Once again,I say - let's go back to the times when
they ran a '65 Galaxie with a 427!Now those were racers!

Yep those were the days! Build em big and run em as hard as they will go. No Holes Barred! Now it`s just one GIANT commercial. And the attitude I have the most money so I WIN!
I kinda think even Dale Sr. would have been in for a rude awakening, Back before the spoiled rich kids moved in, when the "SHINE" runners INVENTED the sport.

Ok guys, you DON'T like NASCAR.

One for one so far...

That and $.75 will buy you a Coke. The QUESTION is would Sr. be proud of Jr. I think Sr. would be very proud of his son striking out on his own. He was able to get out from the family pressure and do what HE wants and needs to do, not what is expected of him.

Two for two...

Now if he goes to RCR and takes his fathers #, there's not enough T shirts in the world to print "3" on. Personally, I hope it doesn't happen. Dale Jr. racing against some other people. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Two for three...

You may wonder why I say this, I know for a fact that the company
I work for could supply enough T-shirts to fill the Super Dome,
And you can have them at your screen printer of choice tomorrow
morning...

Remember back in the late 80's when the Trailblazers won the
NBA crown?? The company I work for shipped 4 53' trailers of
black T-shirts to a Portland Screen Printer on a Saturday morning...

IMHO, I think he put in his time for DEI and it is time to move on. Dad would be proud, or at least I would anyho.

OK, and how much did Michael Schumacher earn over the last decade, just his salary, not counting endorsements /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif ?...It's not JUST NASCAR!! As far as the "little people", we should be questioning why people buy into the vicarious pleasure of "rooting for heros" (no matter which sport), and then create whole economies (literally millions of dollars) to support it? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif

The thrill of real racing /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif , as some of the "little people" know, can be found at the grass roots level /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif !...In a TSD rally with the local car club, in a gymkhana/autocross car, or a local club-sanctioned track event! Those big guys are just pluggin' products and sucking dollars /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/pukeface.gif ! If you want to see that old Galaxy with the 427, if you are lucky, you can probably catch one running at your local drag strip /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif , as that is what they were really best suited for and are still to be seen there! As far as monster racers (like the old "CAN-AM" unlimited super racers of the mid 60s to early 70s), I fear they are but a memory doomed by formulas and regulations! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nopity.gif

PS, I'm betting that he goes with RCR, and then the topical qestion will be, "should the 3 car be painted red for Bud, yellow and blue for Wrangler, or Goodwrench black white and red?" My guess is red, or maybe black!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh Mike! I had almost forgotten the days when I was living in C,C, Texas. They had a great 1/4th mile oval asphalt track there. I loved going to it and watching the Ronco`s, TAMS Modifieds, USRA Texas Asphalt Modified, and what we fans refered to as the bommers. {local boys with gutted out "stock" cars}, however the engines were anything but stock. They even had a foreign car class, everything from VW`s to you name it. And a pickup truck class. Now there is some pushin` and shovin` and get the he** outta my way or i`ll run you over goin`on!
WHAT A HOOT!!!
Wanna watch racin` for the wrecks? then that`s where ya needed to be!
If you are ever in C,C Texas during the racing season and you like racing, going to this track is a MUST DO!

I wish we had something like that around S.L.C.

Small circle tracks are still a good time out on a Saturday night. I try to get to one of our local ovals a couple times a summer. Especially if super mods are running. They routinely come in and destroy track records. Even their own. They also tend to have the fewest wrecks. Which is probably why they always seem to have 'trains' running a figure eight as the final event those evenings. So people can get there 'smash-em-up' quota. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Yep! THAT'S where the FUN in racing can still be found, if you can find little local tracks!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

It may be boring, but it's BIG business, HUGE, I think Tony's onto something, he may be getting rid of the stepmom...

DEI never really sounded right (too much of a business rather than a racing shop sound to it)! Maybe he is just setting himself up (with his uncle?) to start DER (Dale Earnhart Racing) via the RCR organization?

Nah, he's waiting till DEI is run into the ground and he can pick it up at a fire sale for a lot less than the $20 million thats being reported. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
