So Much For Relaxing

I've been working my tail off this past week. Decided this morning it would be really nice to take a relaxing drive up in the mountains on some twisty roads. Went out, fired her up, and went back inside to get my hat and phone. She died while I was inside, and I could not get her started again. Put my troubleshooting hat on and discovered it was a fuel delivery issue.

Got the problem solved and got the project of moving the fuel pressure regulator sorted. I took her for a 10 mile test run and was amazed. First time I think I've ever hit 80 and if she had a 5 speed transmission I probably could have gone even faster.

Might have to make a run in the mountains this afternoon.

Good on ya!

Small world.

Jim, I'm doing the same thing today. Got the MKIII all sorted and checked out, and I'm going for a nice Blue Ridge Parkway ride this morning!

This will be my first "long" trip in the Midget since I bought her earlier this month. I took my time checking all the major systems and components, everything looks well-sorted by the PO.

The PO promised me that everything was good to go on this car, and he was right. It's nice to purchase a car from an honest seller, isn't it?

A cup of strong cofffe at the local coffee shop, and off to the Parkway!

Yay! :driving:

I was able to get a drive in late afternoon, and had a blast! This is the best she's run so far. I just wish the transmission would cooperate. I don't have to go too far for some nice twisty blacktop, and managed to find some new routes that were a lot of fun. What was great was at one point I was completely lost, but just kept driving. After about 30 more minutes I was back where I'd started.

Seeing kids faces and them pointing as I drove past was fun too. One kid went running to his dad pointing and I could hear him asking "Dad, what is that?"

I want to stop and give rides when I see that.

It starts with those 10 mile test runs, and never getting further away from home than one can walk back in what's left of the day. Then its discovered that the cars have only had a chance to warm up sufficiently after 10 miles so the drives get a little longer. The confidence in the car gets better and ya start start driving for an hour at time, then an hour out and an hour back. Next thing ya know, it's overnight distances, then .....

Elkhart Lake in 2011!

Amen
