DANICA!!!!

WOOHOOO!!!

Saw it - no big deal...she wants to play on a level field so its no more a big deal than if any other driver had won!

A) Puts her in the record books.

B) Shows she CAN play on a "level field"

I did catch that news, though I'm not much of a fan of open wheel racing (more of an ALMS guy myself). Does put some proof to the notion that she can drive, at least on a good day.

Now let's see if she can put in a repeat performance.

Open wheel is the ONLY racing. F-1 first.

"REAL race cars got no fenders!"

Plus she's cute. She can rev my engine any day.

I am proud of her.

Add her to the list of Shirley Muldowney, Connie Kalitta.

Oops, Connie is a guy. Remember "The Bounty Hunter?"

Got to (cordially) disagree there, Doc. US open wheel is in a mess, and F-1 has been boring for years. ALMS cars are fast and interesting (that Audi diesel is quite the machine). Besides, ALMS comes to our new track here in Utah, so I get to go in person and see the race.

Sports cars for me!

I've watched open wheel in this country longer than I'm willing to admit. It looks like the champ cars got the short end of the stick in this "unification", but I'm willing to give it a chance. IRL was pretty boring, so it's all uphill from here.

Google her swimsuit pics. OOOOGA!

Doc..I'm with ya on this one...congrats to Danica out there in that ego hostile environment...although also good stuff for Nascar...gotta build that fan base!!! did think it was funny when the news said the trophy was taller then she was!!..

I agree with the Doc;
Open wheel racing is where the technology is tested.

Sports cars are more fun for the average guy, but open wheel is real racing.

Congrats to Danica. Proves she can play with the so-called big boys

I thought it was awesome as h*ll when she led Indy. Then she changed teams and had a rough spell. So glad to see she won a big race! Next stop Indy?!

Oh yeah....and she IS cute! <Did I type THAT???>

Th' kid's got CLASS. She should run with this as far as she can. All she wants to do is drive to win.

As for th' "swimsuit" stuff, she's got her head on right and she's gonna be driving a WHILE. She's dolly, she's got stamina and she's got ability. I hope she plays it for all it's worth. It ain't "Danica Fever" but rather "Winner Fever". Gender has been a false barrier so long it's endemic. This kid is crashin' th' gates in style. I praise her. She'll run this to within an eighth of th' wall.

Go to YouTube and do a search on her. There are several clips and you can see when she is in "Race Mode" she is FIERCE! Yes, she has the softer side and her competitive side is equally stunning! Imho, she stops being a gender and is purely a racer when she dons the firesuit. I suspect she has the potential to be on a level with Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods.

You guys remember when she opened/closed "The Power Block" on Spike TV on weekends?

This win is indeed impressive. Some would say she had advantages (off the track) others didn't have. I would argue that the detriments of being in a male dominated sport...and let's face it, we, by and large, are egotistical and territorial, would outweigh whatever advantages she had. However, each succeeding generation of women in this sport will have less and less of those non-racing issues to deal with, and that is a very good thing.

That principle goes for any minority entrant (of any kind) into a field dominated by a majority of some kind. The first to break in have struggles only they truly can appreciate (not fair, not just, but reality), but when they achieve by struggling through those issues, their followers in that pursuit have less of those biases to deal with- hopefully eliminating the irrelevant and extraneous issues at some point.

Roundy round racing bores me to tears fenders or no! But I could watch Kieth Black Hemis go through a 90 ft. mud pit in 1.2 seconds or less, all day long. Thats RAW horsepoewr Yeaaaaaaaaa! If it doesn`t run on nitro methane, It`s for Girlyboys!
