Nope, guess again Jack. The Smart on the right is, err, errant. The Rover on the left is right.

High tea at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria BC is about $100.00, CN or US that is alot of money.

Re: You go to the Ritz...I went to the Savoy...

Hi,

thought you might find this amusing....
My wife and I traveled to London a few years ago for a holiday. One afternoon, we were out iin typical tourist attire visiting the sights. e decided to stop in the Savoy for lunch. We entered from the back "Thames" side, and was greeted by a proper gentlemam near the entrance. He looked at me and questioned my attire after us asking about having lunch. He politly refused our entrance with mentioning " Sir, it's the pants"! the problem with my attire was, I was wearing bermuda shorts. We quitely left the Savoy, laughing all the while, as we entered a little nearby Pub. To this day, we still smile when recalling this experinece. We did have dinner at the Ritze, by the way, while there, as well.

I have stayed at The Savoy.

Trivia: what is the unique feature of the Savoy's entryway?

Obligatory London photos; it was a beautiful day.

And the view from inside the Eye.

Those are some great photos. I hope to see those sights myself someday, and make pictures of my own. Looks like you had a beautiful day.

I know the answer to the trivia!
The photo's a great clue.
A friend who lives near London just confirmed it by email.

Does anyone know the reason for this setup?

Well, heck if you want photos /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif ...

View from the Eye looking South (I think). Bonus points for anyone who can identify the building in the background and why it is famous - the one just off center with the white smokestacks?

Nice shot of Tower Bridge.

The "eye" ride look like it would be more fun if the cars didn't rotate - hehehehheehe.

Exactly. My "Eyemates" (it was a "teambuilding event" for my London based group) had a lively discussion about the physics involved to keep the "pods" level so we didn't flop around. Revole vs rotate and such.

There may have been a bottle of Champagne involved too, can't recall /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif.

sorry gang - we tried to get in for that stupid afternoon tea and they wuldent let us (me) in because i had jeans on (250 pounds of jeans but still jeans) and no tie - then in the afternoon we went back with the friends we went with (we were 4 all in all wisting london because ive never been there -stayed at the hoxton hotel btw, quite nice) any how - we went back at about 19.00 and took the menu for some 85 pound and a bottle of wine in the bar as apparitif - then some 4 bottels for the food and a expresso to finis - was super nice
but was in the evening - sorry for the confusion guys.-

ohh and james - regarding the fat duck - yeah was nominated and made it as best rest in world year back - but that kind of food is what we call fusion food -heres an example of what fusion culd be like -
if ya take baby spinat (spinach?what popeye eats) and boil it and take a needle and take up the juice wich is all very very green - thats named klorofyl -the u take an egg from a quale (small bird) and semi /just barely boil it in vinega so its noot cooked yet - then u take the needele and enjeckt the green stuff in the yellow thing in the center of the egg and it geets all green - at the same time you take another empty needle and take out the original yellow stuff from the egg so it wont burst- then u cook the eeg on a pan and you get a green thing in the center with taste of spinach. -
thats all show food and a friendof mine just next to my restaurant makes that kind (he just got named as the best cook/chef in Denmark this year. ive tried it(the kind of restaurants) a few times but seen one youve seen it all (not really but just hate food with no substans in it)

sorry for the confusion.-

any how - still looking for that 15.000 § driver. 2+2.

I know! I know! I think it's Battersea Power Station. Used for the cover of the Pink Floyd "Animals" album.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner! Pretty much an empty hulk now. There was redevelopment plan a few years ago for shops/nightclubs, but it never materialized.
