Was out trollin' for work, visiting local businesses. I toast up a Thomases English muffin and have it all slather'd up with butter, PB 'n J, the 'phone rings.

A pal and fellow EX-publisher in the area says she's called to congratulate me on my photo spread in the local "real" newspaper last Friday.

HUH?!?! Whuh?!?!

...always th' last to know. :wall:

It was just a bunch o' "Grip-n-Grin" stuff of locals at an annual dinner but I had NO idea it'd been put out in print. She saw th' photo credit and thought it was a "nice layout"...

Sheesh. You'd think I'd hear about these things AHEAD of time.

If it's employment your looking for, I hope you find it soon!
I have been looking for some time myself and to quote you: "No joy" on this end either.

It's been a long slog, for sure. I am still of the opinion Thomas Friedman is correct in his observation that you better have more than one "trick" in your kit. Specialization has become a handicap. I'm persuing jobs with that as a mantra, anyhow.

We'll see. Time will be the final arbiter.

Best of luck to you doc on you search. You are right again about having more than one trick.... the hard part is convincing potential employers that you can "roll-over" and "shake hands" as well. I am 57 but in the eyes of the HR people I am an old dog!

Be encouraged: you have more to offer in the way of experience than three shiny-new 24 year-olds.

...at least that's what I'm telling my bald gray self!

Remember: "Age and Guile"!!

Hey doc.... if you look underneath that hat I am wearing you will find that I also have lots of forehead
Best of luck to you!

Yeah, best of luck Doc. there's not much fin in that.

Horsemits has copyrighted an illustrated T-shirt years ago... Front says: "Say: "NO!" to Rugs!"

Obverse says: "PROUD to be RUG FREE!"

I wear one with pride.

:smirk:

I had a colleague tell me one time that he was going to tell me a story that was so scary it would make my hair fall out.
I told him not to bother since I already heard it

YES, John. Th' SHIRT!!

:smirk:

CHEESEBURGER...

CHEESEBURGER!

CHEESEBURGER!

CHEESEBURGER!

...you can figger out th' rest...

No coke, Pepsi...

Good luck out there, Doc.

Thanks Drew... for both th' good wishes and the opening to do this:

"I'm Just a Cheeseburger in Paradise..."
