Snap-On Heaven

True story. There is a fella, ok, really, really rich eccentric fella that built a huge general-purpose workshop on his estate and wanted to fill it with tools, good tools. So, he one day coaxed the Snap-On man to take a ride out to his country estate so he could look at his tools. Reluctantly, the Snap-On guy finally one day drove out into the country to humor this guy. So the guy went into the truck to look over the tools, and told the Snap-On man, "I want one of every thing, times three (3). I don't want to have to walk across the room for a screwdriver." The eccentric guy, never really having used any of the tools, maybe a screwdriver or two, died last week. And his only offspring lives out in Colorado and could care less about Snap-On tools. Hmmmmm, I wonder what will happen to over a million dollars worth of Snap-On tools. Somebody will make the deal of a lifetime. Unfortunately, it won't be me.

This story is true. It comes from the overseer (in South Louisiana, this is kind of a Man Friday) of the brother of the rich guy, himself even richer. We drink coffee together every morning.

If I had 3 of every tool I'd probably just have 3 times the mess at the end of the day

Though...It might save time walking in endless circles,

I wanna leave a note in mine somewhere, where the new owner will find it.

It's gonna be a warning about an possibly angry ghost.

So, Bill, you gonna keep us updated in case they do an auction?

I'm gonna leave a note in mine too... It's gonna say something like "maybe you can finish puttin it togeather! I give up!"
Now I just gotta figure out which box of parts to leave it in.

Tony, I will take a shot in the dark and see what is to become of the treasure. Very long shot in the dark.

I cringe every time I think what I have "invested" in Snap-On gear. I'd have been better off buyin' their STOCK. gah.

Yeah Doc, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I comfort myself in knowing that I have invested, just for myself, in a top notch product that will serve me well for the rest of my life. My kid will then get it all, and if he wants, HE can sell it off for the pennies on the dollar that it will bring. If you really want to depress yourself, go to Ebay motors, select tools, and check Snap On, and highest price. You see the life investments of people being sold off.... Man is that sad. In the meantime.... I am off to use mine some more.

I've heard this story before. Was this posted last year? Really sounds familiar.

Well, golly Miss Molly!!
I already have triples of many tools
and triples of many TR6 spare parts!!

And I'm usually found walkin' in endless circles.

That's because you believe in redundancy for redundancy....if 1 will do, stick 2 or 3 in the trunk!

It was. It is just the the bloke died last week and I was wondering what would happen to this treasure trove of fine tools. The overseer working for his brother is out of town having back surgery. Gotta wait a while before I can check on the tools. Still, a very long shot. Never know until you ask.

I would, however, like to have 3 times as many pistons as I have now.

I'd still probably end up turning in circles...

But it would be fun'er

Not completely true, Tony. I've had several breakdowns
from factory defective new fuel pumps. Having spares
in my trunk saved me many a ride home on the flatbed.

Now I have a hard wired electric pump installed as backup
and can easily switch two hoses and I'm back driving.

As I build confidence in my own abilities I carry less
spares and less tools. For example, I no longer carry a
spare transmission or spare differential or spare drive shaft.

dale

& I've never had a problem with a new fuel pump, Dale....

Yes Dale, but how do you 'splain 2 multimeters and a continuity checker? I'd think your car only uses about 4 socket sizes too, so you don't need two full sets.

Shhhhhhh.....don't tell Wendy else Dale's got some 'splaining to do!!
