Wildfires around us (none nearby, thankfully) have changed the view a bit. Two pictures: normal appearance taken a while back, and one taken about 10 minutes ago:

The camera actually cleaned it up a bit; it's worse than it appears here. No problems here, though we've been told to curb outdoor activities.

Not sure of sizes - think all of them are small - it's just that there are so many of them; we haven't had rain in weeks, and very little wind to disperse the smoke. That view is to the south, where quite a few are burning. Nearest one, as best I can tell, is over in Cocke County, to the northeast of us about 30 or 40 miles. We're in a bit of a valley, which contains whatever happens to be in the air at the time. Plays heck with allergies! Which is the reason for the advisories to stay indoors as much as possible until the smoke clears. Waiting for rain and a cold front to get rid of it.

I can relate to the allergies. When we had the Dog Head fire a few months ago it was miserable around here for a few days.

- Like taking pictures?

Looks like last year,on the way to Virginia - smoke all
the way to (& almost through Colorado.Nasty stuff!

10 fires, 44,000 acres! I've a long lost love living southeast of Asheville, NE of the Party Rock fire by about twenty miles... Hoping the city's name is not prophetic!

Some of those are thought to be arson. I hope the morons are caught.

Hey Mick, you can turn off the fires now.
I'm tired of smelling them

Thanks, Steve. That's been a challenge, to say the least! Quite the slope, so Janet and I were really not able to do this on our own. Hired a landscaping company to handle it, and even they had their difficulties. Gravity, mud and pine straw play heck with traction!

Smoke's still here; looks like maybe a little rain this Saturday is possible, and we sure can use it, even without the wildfires.

Your landscaping is awesome. Would you be living in a log home? Hard to tell. Anyway love what I can see.

We got lucky out here in NW Montana this year. There were a few fires but not like in years past. Only had a couple of days I had to leave home because the smoke was coming this way and playing **** with my breathing.

Thanks, Judy. Not quite done yet, but will be great once they finish.

Yes, we had the log home built when we retired. The little cabin on the left is ours; we lived in that while this one was being built. We have it rented out long term. Love the log home and we get to enjoy the view (when there aren't any brush fires...) year-round.

By the way, your house looks great! Nice color combo.

Yeah, folks have been told to watch even their pets here.

It's quite a looker. Very nice. Would love to see pics when it's finished. Inside and out. Doug and I always said we would retire to a log home but 20 years ago we asked why didn't we just do it then. So glad we made that decision to do it. We were going to build anyway. When we built we built two homes and joined the two with the garage. We knew Doug's parents would come and live with us. They did for 17 years. Adele passed the first part of January. I miss her. Always knew when it wasvSunday because I could smell the bacon. We now have a sweet guesthouse. It would seem the house is more than we need but we call it the "take away house." We won't downsize and move into town. Will just be taken away. So if you're in our neck of the woods, you have free lodging. Serious about the offer.

It's all done. Will send you a PM with link to pictures.

Thanks. I got them. Forget about my little house comment. I got it now. Reread your post. Glad to see your spouse is a hands on hips person.. I do that when pondering.

Yeah, but that's not the only time she does that!
