Previous owner removed all the pollution control equip except the Catylitic converter from my 77 B.

Arkansas doesn't have emissions testing, so that isn't a concern. But are there any others? I have always been hazy on what these bits do, besides rob power, and want to be sure that I don't have any suprises down the road.
 
the AIR pumps primary function was to add O2 to the exhaust gasses to promote better catyalist operation (think of an oxy-acetlyne torch). If your not required to pass smog tests then not having one really dosen't effect the car. The worst that could happen is the cat getting clogged from unburnt hydrocarbons.
 
You should probably get rid of that catalytic converter assuming it's legal to do so in Arkansas and stick in a piece of straight pipe in lieu of.
As Banjo noted the converter gets clogged up pretty bad and will restrict the gas flow significantly plus they can become a fire hazard due to tremendous heat.
 
Thanks. I'll look into that. I was thinking about a stainless exhaust system anyway.
