Smell of Gasoline

I recently detected the strong smell of Gasoline every time I drive the Healey (60 BT7). After noticing some drops in the driveway I discovered a leak in the line going into the front carb. I ordered new washers and repaired the leak. My problem now is that after several weeks and serveral hundred miles of driving, I still smell the strong oder of Gasoline and it does not stop. I have checked many times but it is not leaking from any place I can see and there is nothing on the ground after leaving it run for 15 to 20 minutes in a stationary position. Any thoughts anyone?
 
Rick,
Open up the boot and see if the smell is strong in there. If so, I would start looking for a rust through hole in the gas tank, especially if your car still has the original tank.

Yes that is a good point Rick. However, a more connon problem producing a fuel smell inside the car is the failure of the fuel sender's seal in the top of the fuel tank. In any event do not fail to check in the Car's boot.---Keoke
 
Probably pinholes in the fuel tank and no seal in the sender unit. Replace the tank if you have pinholes it will out last you. Do not over tighten the sender unit seal lest it "squeeze" out and not seal again.
