Smart Crows Video

Crows and Ravens really freak me out. Maybe it was too much Edgar Allen Poe growing up I don't know for sure. But I was in Alaska once and had a Raven make eye contact with me and hold it. Kept it up for like five minutes. They have proven their smarts time and time again, this is but one more example and a good one at that. That is an animal that when you look in its eyes, you can tell there is something going on in there. Not like cows. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Vermin with wings, now they have brains....

Yep......I bet more pedestrians get hit on the road than crows.

Smart fellas.......

(Of course they have better peripheral vision)

A recent study, reported in "Scientific American" magazine this month, indicates that some ravens exhibit intelligence that equals that of primates. The study goes on to say that ravens are the most successful species of bird on the planet and may be found virtually everywhere, on all continents. They are able to plan in advance, and reason their way through some fairly intricate puzzles posed by the researchers.

We have plenty of them in our back yard (which is configured to attract birds). It doesn't take a lot of observation to note their unique intelligence.

But, all birds are pretty amazing, I think. It's nice to know that they're highly intelligent as well.

...And Jaybird has a special place in her heart for a certain Mimus polyglottos. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif
