SLOW DOWN!

Driving in icy conditions? Slow Down! I'm always amazed when we have icy conditions how many people drive as if the roads are still dry! Having spent 7 years in Gt Falls, MT, I learned to have a very healthy respect for driving on ice and snow. Thank goodness the car filming this scene was not tailgating, like so many people do these days.

Why you shoudl drive with extreme caution on ice and snow. (WARNING GRAPHIC)

One thing that people tend to neglect is buying snow tires. I'm partially guilty of this, with only All-Seasons on now. There is also such a thing as driving so slow that you're a hazard to other drivers. It can be downright dangerous if someone doing 45 comes up behind someone doing 15-25. I know my tires' limits, and drive slower, but not slow.

I agree with your comment on too-slow drivers. That can be as dangerous.

Too slow is better than half-fast drivers

Going to have to disagree. When there is a 3, 4 long car column and stopping is difficult, that's just asking for a problem. Traffic jams are bad without snow because you can't predict when exactly the cars in front will slow down. But when you add in snow and people with poor skills and no traction, the results can be "interesting".

Yes, I agree with you. My original post "half-fast drivers" was just a play on words... :smirk:

My goodness. Almost reminds me of driving on the Beltway and 395 around DC, but then we had walls.

Then sometimes people get lucky:

Interesting that the car taking the video didn't slow down at all when the guy spun out!

Please tell me that was photo shopped

No way, watched it several times. I don't recommend it.

Lord that was terrible!

I was hoping the driver was far enough forward but....

Kelly asked me what I was watching.

I told her someone getting killed.

MAN, ran clean through it!!!
