I started buffing the paint today and buffed one fender and part of the hood. Now my shoulders are sore, and after a couple of refreshments I lost motivation for today! :cheers:

how are you buffing? By hand? get some foam pads and a DA and you will be done in an Hour, I got my pads from Autogeek, check them out

I doing my 8 with a mothers clay bar, to get all the crud out.

Wax on. Wax off. The road to body work enlightenment. Karate' match at 4:00. Wet sanding??? Paper of the master #2000? Could shorten the road by many a mile. Check with a very experienced teacher,Grasshopper.Some girls like the Pop-eye arms,though.
 
I sanded with 1200, 1500, then 2000 and now buffing with a medium cut wool pad with 3m perfect it 2 compound. I'm going easy with it to keep from burning through the 3 coats of paint.
 
Are you finishing off with a glazing compound or stopping with Perfect-It?

I found that after a good going over with Perfect-It, washing and rinsing the surface, then changing to 3M glazing compound on a fresh foam pad made quick work of the process. After a quick going over with the glazing compound, wipe the surface down with a micro-fiber towel and the gloss will just pop at you.
 
You are right in taking your time and doing just enough to keep you happy. I've seen more paint jobs ruined because guys got anxious and worked when tired or when they were trying to get ahead. They just messed up good looking jobs.

In the shop we nib off with 1000, then hit it with 1500 on the DA (lightly ) This is followed by 3000 wet on the DA(no 1500 scratches are left) Now it buffs easily with a wool pad and 3M perfect it #1.The final polish is #2 with a foam pad. If you do it differently than this ,I wish you luck,you will need it....There is no better/faster way in my experience(40+years).
But if you find a source for new shoulders,please let me know,as I would like a pair!!!
