Sleeved Thermostat

Am I correct in looking at this sleeved thermostat on Ebay. Isn't it open while sitting on the bench and should be closed?

Sure looks that way to me! Quite likely not a good thing.

I can't tell for certain if it is open - but on a side note I am not convinced that it is a true sleeved thermostat. I think a sleeved thermostat has a sleeve outside the case, tied to the bellows piece that shuts off the bypass when it heats up.

This one doesn't have that - I only noticed because I've bought a couple just like it before I realized the difference.

Randy, I agree. What's in the auction, in addition to possibly being stuck open, looks like a "normal" (well, normal for SMITHS) bellows-type theromstat. I've a couple of these from various Heralds.

Here's an original sleeved thermostat. The one on e-bay doesn't have the sleeve, and it is open. Maybe it was very hot where he took the picture. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif
