I need to replace this because it is leaking. This one is not that old. Is this something I'll be replacing every few months? I am using proper fluid (LMA). any experience? thanks
 
I did mine a few months ago. I wouldn't replace it unless it is damaged, instead rebuild it. Parts are cheap and easy to get from the usual suspects. Hardest part was getting it off, then back on the car. Kinda cramped area. Bleeding was fun too. I have been using the silicone fluid for years without any problems. The fluid is probably good for a few years the rubber parts should be good for that long, at least.
 
seems to me that there was a conversation about honing the cylinder walls 'cause it will leak if too smooth
 
You can rebuild it in place, it takes less than 5 minutes,
Pull the pin, pop out the piston and seal, replace the seal, shove the piston back in the hole.
I did this in the parking lot 2 weeks ago on my A40 because a chunk broke off the seal. I have never seen that before but lack of use causes problems.
If the cylinder is new, do not hone it. It may be just a small grain of sand that nicked the seal.
 
Is there not a C ring in there. There is in mine so the piston will not come out the back?????without removeing it.
