I saw a Saturn Sky the other night while eating dinner at Quiznos. It's an even better looking car in person than it is on paper. I thought the Pontiac Solstice looked nice in person, but the Sky is way more appealing than its brother from Pontiac. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera to take any snapshots as it drove by on the road... I was too busy stuffing my face anyways. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif It's simply a beautiful car, IMO.

I snagged a copy of Automobile Magazine's "Buying & Leasing 2006" issue. They're listing the Sky at an estimated $25k... more expensive than the Solstice's base price... but I can't really afford to get one of those either.

I think the Sky has more things standard than the Solstice, items that are optional in that car.

Agreed, I think the Sky is far better looking. I don't mind the solstice for the most part, it's just the nose and grill that I don't particularly like. I've not been a GM fan for many years now, but I gotta give it to them, looks like they may have gotten it right with this pair. Time will tell how they hold up after some miles though.

But, will Saturn be around much longer?

I’m a fan too of this platform. While I like them both I find the Sky to be much more edgy & sculpted than the Solstice with its flowing lines.

If youth is any indication – walking into my son’s room you’ll find the normal posters of Muscle cars, Exotics that you might find in most adolescents rooms. (Surprisingly no rice rockets though). But the other day amongst the Shelby Mustangs, Vipers & Lamborghinis hanging on his wall – I found that he’d pinned up a poster of a Sky (profile shot) that he’d pulled out of one of my automotive publications from last month.

I love them both for various reasons. I really love the front end of the Solstice, but that's a love/hate personal decision for most people. The Sky is more Honda S2000-looking which is certainly not a bad thing.

I'll still take a new Lotus Elise Coupe over either one! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

OH yeah... pretty.

I like them too... I really like the Elise too, but it costs twice as much.

I like the sky alot better than the solstice...Both nice cars, but the Sky is way better in the looks department. Although I've seen alot of solstices out on the road I am yet to see a Sky, expect for the one at the autoshow.
My mechanic just bought a Solstice and after all the business my Caddy has provided him with recently I think he owes me drive /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif .

Elise Coupe? aroo? Didn't know there was such a thing. I've seen a few running around with a removeable hard top in place of the canvas on frames deal...

I want a Sky Redline when they come out... 260 hp in that little thing sounds like fun to me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Elise Coupe?

I thought that was refered to as the Exige. Someone with a little more modern Lotus knowledge may be able to clear up the difference. I know the Exige has a little bit different engine cover on the back than the picture that Steve put up, and most Exiges I've seen are really road legal track cars. A much harder version of the more street oriented Elise.

Heh, funny this thread should appear. I just got back from getting on the list for my first new car ever....a 2007 Saturn Sky Red Line /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif Have to celebrate graduating somehow, right? They said they don't expect delivery to be before at least next spring even though pricing on the Sky Red Line won't be out until the end of June, I'm the 6th or 7th Red Line reserved (and 25th Sky they have on order). This is at Saturn of Newark, DE, the closest Saturn location to the factory. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Saturn headquarters & factory is less than 100 miles from me just up I-65 over the state line in Tennessee...thought it was the only Saturn factory.

Yeah, but its still a Saturn /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Nope, the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, and Opel GT (all Kappa platform) are made in Wilmington, DE.

I drove a Solstice & was impressed - except it felt more like a cocoon than a sports car.
