...about 2 years ago when I joined the BCF, and I decided to look back at my first post. It was a week before Xmas and man was I a newbie. Many of you responded instantly with help and welcome wishes. 4 or 5 cars later and I'm still learning but what I have done in 2 years is pretty neat. None of it would have been possible with out all of you and especially Basil for creating such a great website.

Thanks to all and Happy Holidays.

Vince, I just went and looked, and it seems I was the first to answer your very first post. It sure doesn't seem like over two years ago, does it!
Best wishes for continued success!

Vinny, I just went and looked at my first post, and found this one, shortly after my introduction, 2003. I kind of got a chuckle out of it. Originally posted by Racing Girl.

You know how some people take in stray cats, it's a bit like that with Jeff and cars, people actively seek him out and give him free cars that would, probably, otherwise end up in the crusher. This is an email I received from him earlier this year, line for line, about the acquisition of his latest Midget, it was titled "Saving The Homeless". Although since he sent me this another one has joined his family...

"Brenda;

You would have been proud of me today. I rescued a poor, homeless orphan from an uncertain fate.

She was born in August,1974, in Abingdon, and perhaps due to the smoke in the atmosphere there, has remained a midget to this day.

She looks a bit tatty, mainly due to the fact that she has been sitting in one spot for nearly ten years, but I'm sure with new clothes, and a proper diet she will regain her original vitality. She has the yellow color generally associated with jaundice, but I believe in time, this too, may be cured.

I'm sure she will be happy in her new home, and once she fully regains her health will look forward to meeting new friends.

Adopting the poor unfortunates certainly is gratifying, and I shall remain vigilant in my quest to find, and restore to their proper station, as many as I can.

Jeff"

I only wish I had room for a couple more cars!!

I've been on here for eons now, still no British car or classic car, but it's still a fun place to hang out...

Speaking of your first post there Jeff, how is Brenda doing? We don't hear from her much anymore, I know you're up her way...

I haven't talked to her in awhile, James, but the last I knew she was fine. Just up to her eyebrows in work. They got the Ginetta rebuilt, and it runs like a top. Andrew is still stalled, (like me) on his GT6.
I'll tell her "Hi" for you the next time I see her.

I didn't even know My old posts were kept for me!! The rear end tragedy was pretty funny- BUT NOT AT THE TIME!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bow.gif

Ah yes, the infamous "Randi's Rear End" thread! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
I seem to recall having a small part in that one.

Since we're reminiscing here... My second post was a response to a Lotus Elise related thread, back in October 2002! Just for context to the following response

" There was a company out in San Francisco that was federalizing for street use in the States such cars as the Lotus Elise, Renault Sport Spiders, and I think some other cars too.

I don't know if they are still doing it, heck I don't even remember the company name (although I was on their website once). I imagine you would have to have deep pockets to buy one though by the time this company gets it into your hands.

I'll keep dreaming... "

Post #1 was just an event listing, so doesn't really count

we got it fixed with all your help!! & even got parts!!! grumpy old husband couldn't even complain!!

Yep noticed that and here you are now right on top of things. When I hit The Great Pumpkin status I'll make sure I give you a heads up.

Now you got me looking back as well. From a very early post of mine, after my very first drive in an LBC (a Bugeye).

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]Now, many of y'all have driven many a LBC in your lives. Some even had them when they were new. Me, I've only ever sat in one once (an MG TD) and never drove one. Fitting that a Bugeye is now in my garage.

Until today.

I went to see a Bugeye that a local guy has up on eBay. Nice car, and as advertised. What an amazing feeling to finally get to sit down in the driver's seat, turn the key, and pull out the starter. Just drove it around the block, but what a sensation. Smells of leather, metal, sounds of engine, exhaust. Wow.

I know it's a bit silly, but I think this short little drive set the hook for good. Heck, I even fit (I'm 6' 1"). Still don't know what flavor of LBC is in store for me, and now I'm not sure it even matters. I'm addicted...

I had to go back too....
Dec 27- New member introduction- I actually thought I was going to be driving the Midget soon.
March 18-(Four engine pulls and two rebuilds later....) I actually posted my 1st drive.

I certianly have had to learn a little humility from Idgy.

But here it is almost a year later and I have another LBC in the garage....maybe I'll be posting my 1st drive pictures by March this year too!

If anything, this thread may have inspired a mass retrospective of our first posts! Gaak! 81 pages of prior posts!! I must admit that I lurked for some time before I ever summoned the courage to actually provide some input!!

I don't even know if Basil's archives go that far back!!

Lemme see.....yep! it does...

Most first posts seem like your joining AA or something. "Hi, I'm Jim and I've been an LBC addict for many years".

That's what I thought too. When I look back oat my posts they are all in the Spridget forum. Only being a member of one other forum for Harley's, I was amazed at how fast I accumulated posts here at the BCF. I was told that once you get one MG, many more follow you home. How true how true but still no 72 Midget. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

First post 11/13/05. Wow I been here a long time.
