JB's post in my last thread made me think I should pass this one on for everyones light reading.
Ah lying - the lost art.
I was talking to a gal last a couple of weeks back and we joked around a lot & yes we even danced a lot too – great dancer BTW. But anyway I was a gentlemen and nothing happened other than the fact that I made the dreaded error of exchanging numbers so she could let me know when she was going to be back in town again. Again she was a great dancer.
That said besides her talents on the dance floor - she was easy person to talk to was interesting & smart and seemed totally unthreatening. Besides all that she was an absolute knock out to boot! But honestly she never gave the first hint that she “liked” me in any way. That coupled with the fact that she lived well over two hours away no alarm bells went off and I had no reason to be suspicious.
Fast forward to today:
I get a couple of calls from this gal saying she’d like to talk to me because I was in areas with poor reception I couldn’t return her calls. Well this afternoon I’m heading home and the phone rings.
She’s talking about meeting me sometime soon. It’s at this point that I start to get that old feeling of dread. But remembering the (Psycho chick from the other night) I start back peddling like a SOB & am willing to say & do anything about the prior agreement. Stuff like I’m not really looking and the distance is too great. Frankly I was rattling stuff of the top of my head I’m not even sure now what all I said.
That’s when she pauses and lets out a deep sigh and asks if one of her friends told me her real age? Thinking back I don’t recall anybody actually saying how old she was, I just recall something about us being around the same age as me - give or take a year or two. But that’s when she says she was sorry about lying to me about being 50 (I’m 48 BTW) and that her real age is 57.
Truthfully (pun intended) I wouldn’t of cared less about her age. Then she tried to tell me that she thought I’d grow to like her - then she’d tell me the truth then. I said even if I was interested – lying is not the way to start a relationship. I just hope she’s too embarrassed to ever call me back.
But as nice looking as she was – it goes to prove the old adage that “Every thing that Glitters - is not Gold”.
I just want to know why I'm attracting all the crazy ones.
