Single HS4 on a 1500

On the 1300 I made an insulator out of 1/4" thick Micarta. I think the MGB spacers are much thicker. If you are slotting the SU, you should be OK just using the old Stromberg insulator which is about 3/16" thick.

If you change your mind about filing vs milling just let me know.

OK, still don't have the carb back, but, here are some pictures.

This is the manifold, you can see that I have the '76 throttle mechanism - on the left of the picture, is the linkage for the throttle. It bolts to the carb. The return spring (not in picture) is attached to the linage on the carb and then hooked on to the inner fender of the car. The "L" shaped piece at the bottom of the linkage is from my meccano set. So, the throttle cable comes from the top.

Here are the two clips for the choke. The cable loops around and over the top of the carb coming from front to back. With the clip on the left, the round part of the clip holds the cable sheath in lace while the bolt bolts on to a bracket that is part of the carb casting itself. With the bell off, and looking down at the carb, you should see four screw holes - In between the back two but at the same level horizontally you should see the hole I am referring to (I'll post a picture in a couple of days if this makes no sense)

On the right is the piece that attaches to the choke linkage. The screw in the picture screws into the brass piece which tightens on the choke cable. The whole clip then bolts on the linkage.

And this is a closeup of the cable piece - you can see the hole for the cable in the brass fitting. BTW, both these pieces came from my mechanic as I had him set up the choke - don't know where they came from but they shouldn't be hard to fab up from a bike shop.

JP,

Thanks for the photos.
Funny that you made some parts from your Meccano set!
My Meccano set was the best Christmas present ever!
I think the US equivalent is the Erector set, in case folks have never heard of Mecanno.

Cheers,
Adrian
