Single 12 volt battery conversion

Looks like I need a new battery. Car has twin 6 volt batteries. Is this as easy as just dumping a 12 volt battery in the passenger side, attach positive cable to battery, then you'll need a large ground cable to connect to the driver's side(ground)?

I just did a 6 to 12v swap on my '71 B.
I moved the ground strap over to the passenger side, removed the interconnecting battery cable (the one that goes between the battery boxes) and dropped in a 12v with top posts on the passenger side (battery size 26 or 26r will fit like a glove). I did no other mods and all seems to be just fine.

I actually stumbled across the following website that helped me tremendously over the last few days:
www.mgcars.org.uk/electrical/conversion.html
